We write to Alex Chalk about Cheltenham going even more Remain

Dear Alex

I hope you have enjoyed, or are enjoying, your summer break.

Whichever it is, you will have seen the recent major poll which showed Cheltenham, already a Remain town, moving even further to Remain (57.2%/42.8% in 2016 to 62.2%/37.8% now). This brings us even closer to the often talked about super-majority of 66%.

We all know the discussion about ‘delegate or representative’. Either way, surely it is now time for you represent the views of your constituency and the old Alex Chalk, rather than some of your Association members and some of your parliamentary party, and, at the very least, help us campaign for a People’s Vote on the terms – with an option to remain?

We look forward to welcoming you on board.

Best regards

  1. Very important to stress that the learning curve towards Remain has been increasing. People are frustrated because they did not have any inkling of the complexities of trade agreements and the positive aspects of our European membership. With the re -emergence of Farage on the road (and Bannon boasting a movement of family values!! ?? ) it would be expedient to at least give the voters ‘ a people’s vote’ as more reliable facts emerge. They may then make a more informed decision regarding the negotiations’ outcome.
