Cheltenham for Europe and Tewkesbury for Europe had a good day at the recent University of Gloucestershire Welcome Fayre at the Park Campus. We used our Brexitometer to gauge how students felt about Brexit. The majority of students who stopped to talk with us thought that Brexit was not going well, and that it had a negative impact on their opportunities to study, work and travel in Europe. Many were not sure about the environmental impact but were concerned about effluent on our beaches and in our waterways. Many students were not sure about the effect of Brexit on the music industry but when advised about the delays at borders, certification needed for equipment and some musical instruments, as well as the restrictions on touring and knock-on effects on the music support industries, were unpleasantly surprised. At the very least students wanted better relationships with our European neighbours and many wanted to rejoin the EU. We have sent a photo of the Brexitometer to our local MPs for their information!
We are very grateful to Europe House in London for sending items that we could give to students (pens, tote bags, notebooks, face masks).
